About

Born in 2005 under the melancholy clouds of the Pacific Northwest, The Listening began their journey to establish their seemingly prophetic voice among the global creative arts community. After nearly 6 years of critically acclaimed independent releases and extensive tours throughout North America and Europe, The Listening have now opted to expand their borders beyond the definitions and constraints of a typical touring band.

The Listening have boldy proclaimed themselves to be no longer a “band”, but rather a “collective” of artists. Unlike a band limited to just 4 musicians on a stage, the blueprint for the collective and collaborative spirit allows for a much larger cast of artistic visionaries to be involved, giving them opportunity to roam freely as their creative spirit inspires.  From musicians to photographers, visual artists to songwriters, web & media creators, and far beyond, The Listening are more determined than ever to embrace their identity as artists whose work is most often understood best by other artists.

The Listening released their first work as a collective titled “Animals Pt 1 : Criminals & Submarine Dwellings” on 10/10/10. Inspired by a quote from CS Lewis in the “Screwtape Letters”, the musical single & short film are accompanied by a commentary on the film and behind the scenes footage of the recording sessions at The Soundhouse in Redding, CA.
